APP 6000 Portable Generator

I found the APP 6000 Portable Generator by General Power Products at Menards listed for $599. It’s $649 if you buy it from the manufacture’s website.

The noise level is 75 dB(A) and I was not impressed with the 1 year warranty which they claim has less than 1 percent claims – well, if they reduced the warranty to 6 months, I’ll bet they would have even less claims :) You want at least a two year warranty!

Note: There was a recall notice on the APP 6000 in October of 2008:

Generators with a black Cover Plate could develop a fuel leak at the Fuel Cock Valve. The Fuel Cock Valve and Cover Plate may impact each other during shipping, handling and operation causing damage to the Fuel Cock Valve. Not all these generators have a Cover Plate installed. The model numbers that may have the Cover Plate are General Power Products model APP 6000 and Poulan Pro model PPG 6000.
